What you’ll do here
If you’ve read this far, we know that you want to know more. As Devex’s Audience Development Director, you’ll be directly managing three key functions: news production & newsletters, events & social media, and news technology. You’ll be responsible for ensuring all the platforms where Devex publishes -- from our website to newsletters to events to social media -- are part of an integrated audience growth and engagement strategy. Every day, you’ll be focused on what’s working to grow and engage our audience and how we can do more of it. Your first year will look a little bit like this…
In your first 90 days, you’ll get to know our news, events, and social media producers, as well as our engineers, graphic designers, and product owner. You will begin aligning these teams (with approximately 20 full-time staff) around our audience growth and engagement strategy.
By the end of your first year, you’ll have led a significant increase in our audience growth and engagement metrics. And you’ll have become a key part of our overall news leadership.
Here are the indicators that this could be a good role for you:
Minimum 7-10 years of work experience in journalism and digital media
Successful leadership and management experience
Demonstrated accomplishments in using content strategy to grow and engage audiences
Deep knowledge of digital media strategies, platforms, business models, social media, technologies, SEO/SEM
Strong experience with audience metrics, marketing platforms, CRMs
Relevant educational experience, including at least an undergraduate degree
You may be based anywhere, but can work during US or Europe business hours
Besides the basics, here’s what we’d love to see:
Experience working with high-quality media brands
You’ve been in an audience engagement or development role before, and understand how to find angles and shape stories that resonate
You know and understand the global development community, as well as tangential audiences including around social impact, philanthropy, and sustainability
