Public Safety/Government Reporter

The Daytona Beach News-Journal ( has an opening for an energetic and inquisitive reporter who can cover both government and public safety news.

You’ll be covering public safety news for both The News-Journal and the St. Augustine Record, located about 60 miles north of Daytona Beach. You also will be covering the city of Palm Coast, a rapidly growing community in Flagler County with enough issues to keep any enterprising reporter busy.

We would prefer a reporter with at least three years of experience for this position, but we’ll also consider candidates with less experience who have demonstrated the ability to cover a beat and who have shown the ability to do investigative work. Database skills are also desired, as are photo and video chops.

Daytona Beach is home of The World's Most Famous Beach, and St. Augustine is a cultural hub that is also the oldest city in the United States. And as an added bonus, you will get to work in a collegial and supportive newsroom that breaks a lot of great stories.
