The digital marketing team of CWS works to tell the stories of the people we come alongside, the importance of the issues they face, and the impact of our programs, in a way that motivates others to give and to get more involved. The Marketing Writer & Content Coordinator will bring copywriting, editorial and organizational skills and experience as part of this team to produce clear, compelling, on-brand content for marketing and fundraising campaigns across a variety of channels.
Copywriting and Editing
Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience writing and editing varied types of content, including short-form (email messaging, brochure and mailer copy, web content) and microcontent (email subject lines, short web text, calls-to-action, ad text). Specific experience with nonprofit marketing and fundraising is a plus.
Exceptional written communication skills with the demonstrated ability to write clearly and persuasively, and to craft compelling and authentic content that informs and motivates distinct audiences to act.
Experience coordinating a large number of pieces and projects, and working closely with multiple stakeholders, while meeting tight deadlines.
Experience working with nonprofit marketing and fundraising, helping to articulate a clear, compelling message and to implement it consistently across marketing channels, is highly preferred.
Experience communicating about issues of global community development, humanitarian response, refugee resettlement, immigration, climate change or racial justice would be considered an asset.
A bachelor’s degree in a related field is required.

Job knowledge: You understand the unique needs of mass email, web content, SMS, advertising copy and other marketing channels and know how to optimize messaging for each of them. You understand customer/donor funnels and the role of marketing for increased engagement.
Initiative: You are curious and driven to understand your work. You can apply this to quickly gain understanding of the breadth of CWS programs and impact, and the uniqueness and interests of our supporters.
Dependability: You are extremely well-organized and detail oriented. You have developed or adapted specific processes for managing your work and meeting deadlines. You effectively communicate with colleagues about requirements and questions in order to keep projects on track.
Leadership: You appreciate the importance of helping current and potential supporters learn and grow excited about the issues we focus on and our work to address them. You are committed to developing quality content for them and continually looking for ways to improve and further our awareness, engagement and fundraising objectives.
