National monthly trade magazine seeks to immediately hire an online website editor/news reporter to write daily business news articles covering national events for the recreational vehicle industry. The position includes posting daily exclusive articles on the website using Word Press.
The perfect candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of experience at a bi-weekly or daily newspaper creating enterprise articles from over-the-phone interviews under strict deadlines. Nearly half of each day is spent calling new sources, hunting down exclusive content and working the beat by talking with business executives over the phone and building lasting relationships. Strong phone skills, curiosity and an outgoing personality are crucial for success in this position.
Strong interviewing skills paired with the ability to write business news articles error-free are critical for success in this position. The right candidate will be able to write a minimum of three enterprise articles daily (up to 1000 words) and be an expert in Associated Press Style. Previous experience as an editor strictly adhering to AP Style is also highly desired.
The right candidate will have a communication degree with a focus in journalism or closely related degree. Experience managing, maintaining and creating content for a website plus digital newsletter is highly desired. Familiarity with Mail Chimp and deploying mass messaging is also desired but not required. Working knowledge of Photoshop is a plus.
The right candidate excels at multi-tasking, needs little supervision, takes great pride in producing comprehensive stories that are concise, interesting and leave no question unanswered.
