The Herald-Dispatch in Huntington, West Virginia, seeks a smart, skilled reporter to deliver excellence in journalism working in a fast-paced environment in one of the state's most livable cities. We are not looking for people who've always wanted to give journalism a try. We are looking for a journalist dedicated to the craft, who knows how to report a story and turn it, on time, air-tight, accurate in every detail and crisply written. We want a serious journalist who is relentlessly curious, passionate about the vocation and driven to excel. If you have no journalism training and have never written for a newspaper, either professionally or in college, please do not waste our time or yours. If you think you are the right fit, email Lee Wolverton, regional executive editor, at lwolverton@hdmediallc.com. Included a cover letter and three samples of your best work. The subject line should read: Reporter. Hint: Those who fail to follow these instructions will not be considered for the position.
