The Conversation needs your help amplifying the reach of our content through republishers and social media, and contributing to our mission of democratizing knowledge. We are looking for a journalist – someone who has either worked in journalism or studied it – to join our growing and fun team.
Our ideal candidate is outgoing, not discouraged by sending dozens of emails without hearing back from anyone, and finds joy in developing and building strong partner relationships. We are looking to hire a passionate person who embraces our mission of bringing the voices of experts to audiences hungry for truth.
Manage relationships with content republishers, understanding editors’ content needs and workflows and pitching them the stories they’ll want to use.
Grow our social media presence across Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Reddit and elsewhere with engaging daily posts and innovative social media experiments
Reach out to potential new republishers, including attending conventions and visiting newsrooms
Create materials for publishers, including a quarterly newsletter
Solicit ideas from republishers about content they want and liaison with their editors
Pitch guests from The Conversation for broadcast appearances
Manage our Apple News channel
Help as needed with other duties as part of our evolving team
Assist in the production of email newsletters
A college degree
1-3 years journalism experience or relevant internships
Excellent communication skills – written and verbal
Experience in growing social followers and demonstrated flair in social media
The Conversation US is an independent, nonprofit media organization that publishes daily analysis and commentary authored by academics, edited by journalists and aimed at the general public. Our team of professional editors works with scholars from universities across the U.S. to help them share their research and apply their expertise to topical issues.
