Berkeleyside is growing and also building a nonprofit newsroom to help people across Oakland better understand and engage with our city’s greatest challenges and opportunities. We're hiring six reporters to join our teams, five for our new Oakland newsroom and one for Berkeleyside.
In Oakland, we’ve spoken to a wide range of community members and identified a need for bold, informed reporting and conversation on a variety of topics, and are hiring five reporters to help cover those topics, including: local public health and environmental impacts, educational equity, arts and culture, city government and policing, and housing and homelessness.
You’ll provide insight into how policies and new developments are affecting Oaklanders, what’s working and what’s not, and what resources are available — or needed — for the people who need them most. You’ll also help reimagine how local journalism can serve this city. Read more about our Oakland newsroom and founding values.
