San José Spotlight, the city's first nonprofit news organization dedicated to independent political and business reporting, is looking for ambitious freelance reporters who excel at breaking news, cultivating relationships with sources and telling unique enterprise stories.
Our journalists cover politics, policy and government in the heart of Silicon Valley, an exciting market with no shortage of compelling stories that shape the national conversation. We are looking for reporters who are flexible, with exceptional digital skills, including social media, and the ability to write compelling copy -- quickly and accurately.
The ability to share stories via social media, live-tweet meetings or events, take photos and video is highly desirable, and we compensate freelancers for those additional duties.
Our mission is to change the face of local journalism by building a community-supported newsroom that ignites civic engagement, educates citizens and strengthens our democracy.
Report and write political news and feature stories for San José Spotlight, the South Bay's new independent nonprofit newsroom.
