The Cecil Whig and the Newark Post are looking to hire two reporters.

Candidates must have strong writing, research and people skills. The position requires ability to take photographs and video for the Cecil Whig and The Newark Post, and potentially The Bargaineer, our online editions and also to coordinate content with the company's other publications.
Duties include assigned beat work of municipal meetings, education, local business, health, agriculture and other event and news coverage. Enterprise and feature stories round out each week's production of with accompanying photographs and at times video, as well as digital postings. Proficiency with online journalism, social media and video taking required. A positive attitude and the ability to grasp "the meat" of a story are essential to your success.
This is a full-time position, with weeknight and weekend assignments being commonplace.
The successful candidate must be flexible, attentive to detail, diplomatic, able to take direction, and able to multitask. This position will work with different personality types and across a number of publications. Candidates for this position should have strong interpersonal skills and client orientation and exhibit an ability to work effectively with internal and external contacts as a team member as well as a team leader. You will report to a Managing Editor and Regional Executive Editor.
Essential Functions: Ability to write and to provide clean copy, take photos and video, and have strong organizational skills. Must be able to accept instruction and editing suggestions from editors. Must be able to work cooperatively with the public. Perform job duties and conduct self in accordance with company core values. Initiate and nurture effective, professional relationships with internal and external contacts.
Must adhere strictly to industry ethics.
Prior reporting/editing experience preferred.
Townnews or BLOX proficiency preferred, and willingness to quickly learn required.
Demonstrated ability to multi-task and handle quick turnaround on tight deadlines.
Must have own transportation. Work mileage reimbursed.
