The San Diego Union-Tribune is hiring a newsletter editor to transform our flagship morning email from a list of headlines to a must-open, authoritative guide to the day’s top news in San Diego and beyond. This will be a high-profile job in the newsroom and the community, part columnist, part curator, part editor -- highlighting the best things about our best work, and bringing home the news that’s important to San Diego. The job allows for original reporting and collaboration across all teams in the newsroom, and at our publications across the county. The newsletter will contain original work, feeds from our journalists and curation from other outlets. The goal is to win new subscribers, and remind our current subscribers that they’re glad they do. The primary focus of this position is creating our main morning newsletter, but this editor will also take a leadership role in strategy and best practices for a host of other topical and geographical newsletters. Experience with analytics and reader engagement is a plus, and so is writing with a confident voice.
