Production Assistant

Posting Summary – We are seeking a Production Assistant for FOX Sports Arizona. Under regular supervision, this position is responsible for supporting live remote productions, ENG field productions and in-house taped productions. Duties include editing features and highlights for pregame shows as well as logging melt reels and sound from interviews for original programming. Responsibilities also include cataloging and archiving media, assisting producers with music cue sheets, making video clips for social media and providing general research and production support for producers. This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Broadcasting or Radio/TV/Film. Some experience in sports TV production and/or technical operations is necessary. Experience editing with Adobe Premiere Pro or Avid is required. Good organizational and project coordination skills are needed. Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel and Outlook are required. Familiarity with remote production, studio and post-production facilities is preferred. The ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends and holidays is necessary.

Essential Functions –

• 35% - Editing highlights and feature elements for event production and original programming.
• 25% - Supporting live remote production - logging ENG footage & Melt reels.
• 20% - Gathers show elements by using ENG shoot tapes, feed tapes and event records. Catalog and archive media as necessary. Assist producers with music cue sheets.
• 10% - Provides production support for sales and social media – clipping features and interviews.
• 10% - Participate & contribute ideas to meetings related to the above items.

Qualification Requirements -

• Education / Experience - This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Broadcasting or Radio/TV/Film. Some experience in show production and/or technical operations is necessary.
• Language / Communication – Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.

• Mathematical Skills – Basic math skills are needed for ensuring that features and shows time out correctly.

• Other Skills / Requirements - Good organizational and project coordination skills are needed. Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel and Outlook are required. Experience editing with Adobe Premiere Pro or Avid is required. Knowledge of ENG camera operation is necessary. Familiarity with remote production is preferred. The ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends and holidays is necessary. Must be able to perform in a deadline-oriented environment. Attention to detail and a desire to consistently deliver high-quality work is a requirement.

  Frequently required use of hands and fingers to write and computer keyboard. Necessary to occasionally carry camera and support equipment when supporting field production.

• Typical tools, equipment and materials utilized: Computer, telephone, printer, calculator, copier, fax machine. Avid editing equipment, Panasonic P2 ENG Cameras.

• Work Environment – The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.Primarily works in an office environment but it will also be necessary to occasionally work in the field to include live sporting events, locker rooms and press conferences.
