Community journalism is alive and well, and Sonoma West Publishers is looking for a reporter. The position will cover a wide array of topics, primarily in west Sonoma County but will also branch out into our other coverage areas of the county, including Windsor, Healdsburg and Cloverdale.
Opportunities to cover local events, the Sebastopol City Council, water issues and more. Our next reporter needs to be able to go where the news is and be unafraid to tackle complex issues.
No direct experience is required, but strong writing skills are a must. The ideal candidate will also have a deep curiosity and excellent work ethic. We can show someone breaking into journalism the ropes when it comes to government processes, records requests and other news gathering techniques. So if you’re naturally curious about local issues and a good writer, this will be a great first step into a career in journalism, communications or public service.
We’re a small team, but we take on large challenges in this news-rich area. Our next reporter will be able to pitch bold ideas, explore other skill sets such as photography and other multimedia and find camaraderie and support with our fun and collegial staff.
Send a resume, cover letter and clips to Managing Editor Andrew Pardiac at Andrew@sonomawest.com. Please include “reporter position” in the subject line.
