The Owensboro Messenger-Inquirer is seeking an energetic reporter who is looking for an opportunity to get a foot in the door of a daily newspaper.
If you have a passion for community journalism, this an excellent opportunity to work with and learn from a staff of six seasoned city desk reporters.
The Messenger-Inquirer, an 18,000-circulation newspaper in western Kentucky, is part of a growing newspaper chain of small and mid-size dailies, as well as weekly papers, primarily in the midwest and south.
The successful candidate will possess solid writing and accurate reporting skills, and the ability to meet deadlines.
We’d prefer a candidate with a year or two of small daily or weekly reporting experience, but recent graduates with a previous internship will be seriously considered.
Owensboro is a growing and thriving community along the Ohio River. It’s two hours from Louisville and Nashville, and about three hours from St. Louis.
Several retirements have led to openings at a newspaper that hasn’t had a lot of turnover until recently.
An excellent driving record is a must.
We offer competitive pay and benefits.
Please send a cover letter, résume and clips to City Editor Robert Bruck at firstname.lastname@example.org or mail to Robert Bruck, Messenger-Inquirer, 1401 Frederica St. Owensboro, Ky. 42301.
No phone calls please.
