Through online, print and events, The Hill's powerhouse vehicles offer
objective, in-depth and non-partisan coverage of the most important issues
facing America today. The Hill seeks a writer for arts and culture for an
exciting new nonpolitical section of TheHill.com creating news and features
about meaningful positive change in such vital areas as human rights, the
environment, education and health care.
You will write daily stories in a fast-paced setting. This includes a mix of short
pieces—including photo galleries and listicles—and longer enterprise features. You
will follow the news and trends in your subject area and will be expected to remain
current in the field.
We are looking for candidates who have experience reporting and writing on
deadline. You should come prepared with a Rolodex of sources in the arts and
culture space, and familiarity with how to find new sources quickly and confidently.
You should be comfortable pitching your own story ideas and know how to turn a
pitch into a completed piece in a timely manner.
We are looking for someone who will be a full partner in this exciting publishing
venture, who can bring great ideas to the table. The ideal candidate will be a self-
starter and highly organized. At least one year of experience in related work is
desired. Experience covering arts and culture topics is preferred.
