The Daily Sentinel, the largest newspaper in western Colorado, seeks a versatile, creative and hard-working general assignment/education reporter.
Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree in journalism or a related field. The reporter must have strong reporting and writing skills, be well-versed in AP style, possess the ability to shoot photos and video, and be comfortable working in social media.
We want motivated self-starters who can turn stories quickly for our website and social media, and also develop well-written enterprise pieces. The ability to develop sources and work efficiently, as well as being a team player, is critical. Candidate should also be able to produce well-written and accurate stories on in-depth subject.
The reporter will have the opportunity to write a variety of features and enterprise stories from human-focused profiles to trend stories to breaking news.
The Daily Sentinel is located in Grand Junction, the largest city between Denver and Salt Lake City and a growing regional hub for higher education, shopping, business, health care and  transportation. The area is packed with outdoor recreation opportunities including hiking, mountain biking, road cycling, fishing and more. The area offers beautiful scenery, a high quality of life and less traffic and cheaper housing than many areas of the state.
