The Real Deal, the nation’s leading real-estate focused news publication, is looking for a talented editorial intern to join our New York newsroom.
With over 3 million visits a month, TheRealDeal.com is the go-to news source for the country’s top real estate, finance and investment professionals. Our coverage includes breaking news, investigative stories, market reports and longform narrative profiles. We won the General Excellence award from the Society of American Business Editors and Writers in 2018, Quantcast rates us among the 800 most-visited websites in the U.S., and our work is regularly cited by the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, the Financial Times, CNN, Variety and a host of business publications.
We cover the deals, of course, but also try through our reporting to weave a tapestry of the characters that make the market – the developers with skyscraper dreams, the politicians who kiss their rings, and all the assorted hustlers in between. The intern would be responsible for writing several original web stories per week, aggregating the biggest industry news from other publications, and helping report on features with our senior reporters.
This is one of the biggest and most dynamic real estate markets in the world. The ideal candidate will have an interest in covering money and power and a keen desire to learn how the industry brings together elements of politics, business, entertainment, finance and law. The ability to pitch story ideas and write clean copy on deadline is a must. We often hire interns to full-time reporting positions.
The position is based in our Manhattan office in Hudson Yards. The intern will receive a monthly stipend, and we're looking for about 20 hours a week.
Please submit a resume, three clips and a cover letter to Managing Web Editor James Kleimann (firstname.lastname@example.org).
