Brooklyn Paper is in the market for a young journalist with the smarts and drive to produce excellent reporting on a hyper-local level. The position demands an industrious spirit, astute critical thinking, a sharp writing talent, and a robust sense of humor. Applicants must be willing to travel to the furthest reaches of the borough at odd hours, attend interminable public hearings and community meetings, brave riots, cultivate difficult sources, produce original content, and devise ingenious new angles in covering borough-wide events. Good photography skills are a bonus. Applicants should have a college degree, and be able to demonstrate some experience working in the field; i.e., school newspaper, internships, freelancing, staff work, etc.
Reporters will be expected to proactively engage with audiences online, using social media as both a reporting tool and a device for sharing Brooklyn Paper articles to capture the widest possible audience.
