The Southeast Missourian newspaper/website seeks an experienced and dynamic journalist to lead a talented newsroom that has been growing.
The ideal candidate will understand not just the basic tenets of good journalism, but also know how to dissect analytics to make solid strategic decisions that will keep journalists and content relevant.
The editor will contribute to content while leading a talented newsroom that has a mix of veteran and young reporters and an aggressive photo and sports staff. This is a staff that has won the best investigative reporting in the state of Missouri three years running, but day to day puts out meaningful and useful content to readers.
The Southeast Missourian covers a metro area anchored by Cape Girardeau, which is a thriving community with three hospitals, a university and a bustling downtown district on the riverfront of the Mighty Mississippi.

The Southeast Missourian is one of 10 newspapers in North America selected by Google, Local Media Association and FTI Consulting for an accelerated project on digital subscriptions. It has previously been involved with Google on three other cutting edge projects, as well as being a technology testing ground for the Associated Press. In addition to its core newpaper products, Rust Communications operates a digital agency, events division and magazine operation in Cape Girardeau.
