The Pulitzer Prize-winning Post and Courier is looking for a statehouse/politics reporter to join the team in its Columbia, S.C., bureau. The Post and Courier, the largest daily newspaper in South Carolina, has developed a reputation as one of the nation’s leading watchdog news organizations. We expect our next statehouse/politics reporter to help us build upon that tradition.

In the past four years, The Post and Courier has been a finalist for a Pulitzer Prize three times, including this year in the Feature Writing category.

We cover news a bit differently. We avoid writing incremental government and political stories. We pursue the stories that matter most to our readers. Our goal is quality over quantity. We look for more enterprise angles to tell a story. Still, we expect our statehouse/political reporters to have their finger on the pulse and break news in a competitive market.

The Post and Courier is a growing, independently owned news organization based in Charleston, S.C., that offers a break from the cost-cutting (at all costs) recent history of corporate-owned media companies. Our local owners have deep roots in the state and care about this newspaper and its reputation. Columbia is a growing state capital with a major university in the heart of South Carolina that's a two-hour drive from the beaches and the mountains.
