WashingtonExec, the leading publication covering the executives and the business of the government contracting industry, is seeking a part-time reporter (with an option for full-time) who will cover M&A activity, contract awards, executive appointments, and profile leaders and influencers in the community.?
The right candidate is a highly motivated, independent worker. He or she must have 1 to 2 years experience as a reporter, be comfortable covering a beat and know how to translate jargon and complex topics into well-researched, authoritative stories.
Experience writing about the GovCon space is a big plus, but not required.?
This position is ideal for someone with demonstrated aptitude for writing about business for a knowledgeable readership. He or she must be as comfortable covering the daily spot news as well as writing original enterprise stories. Finally, the right candidate should be passionate about cultivating relationships with high-level executives and have a keen interest for storytelling.
Our office is based in Fairfax, Virginia, but will consider someone who is outside of the Washington DC area.
Accurate, clear and concise writing and impeccable communication skills
Working knowledge of WordPress: know how to insert stories and images, add categories, tags and other relevant information, etc.
Proficient in AP style
Comfortable with daily deadlines?
Reliable internet connection and phone
Available for phone check ins during normal business hours
