The Herald, a family-owned newspaper (afternoons; no Sunday) in southwestern Indiana, is looking for a talented and energetic sports editor. Our area features some of the state’s best prep sports and The Herald is dedicated to producing a quality sports section. The sports editor will handle duties from game coverage to feature writing to copy editing to the overall supervision of the two-person sports department. We offer the chance to go beyond common sports reporting via expanded game coverage and magazine-style features. Coverage includes prep sports as well as community sports and a summer-league collegiate baseball team. Members of our sports staff have received numerous writing awards from the Hoosier State Press Association, the Associated Press Sports Editors and the Associated Press Managing Editors. We have been named the top section in Indiana multiple times. This job requires both night and weekend work. Applicants with previous experience as a sports editor are preferred.
