At the Independent-Enterprise, you will cover an assortment of assignments throughout Payette County, including city government, education and business. Payette County is ground zero in Idaho for oil and gas production, and there will be ample opportunity to follow up on myriad stories related to that topic. In addition, you will get to contribute to ongoing specialty publications, such as our lifestyle and outdoors magazines.

We are looking for someone to join our news team who can manage a workload that is variable, with occasional night and weekend work required. The ideal candidate will also be able to balance multiple deadlines, while keeping a sense of urgency for breaking news.

The successful candidate also needs to have working knowledge of DSLR cameras, as the job requires an eye for visual storytelling, which means we need compelling photos and story elements to maximize the experience for the reader.

A journalism or communication degree or at least four years of experience in a newsroom is preferred.
