Seaton Publishing is searching for a dynamic editor to lead the five-day-a-week Junction City Daily Union.
We're looking for someone who can guide and inspire a small staff to do great community journalism day in and day out. The successful candidate will have keen news judgement, excellent command of AP style and solid design ability. Perhaps most importantly, this person must be able to juggle multiple tasks, triaging stories and coordinating coverage to get the best, most timely pieces in the newspaper. This is a working manager position, and we expect the editor to be willing and able to pick up breaking stories or run out and take photos as needed.
The Daily Union is the paper of record in Junction City, Kansas, a town of about 23,000 in the beautiful Flint Hills. It's adjacent to Fort Riley and Milford Lake. Just down the road is Manhattan, home to Kansas State University. Wichita and Kansas City are both about two hours away.
Seaton Publishing is a growing, family-owned company whose holdings also include The Manhattan Mercury, two weekly newspapers in Wamego, and the 1st Infantry Division Post. The company offers a salary and benefits package that includes medical, vision and dental insurance, and a profit-sharing plan.
Bachelor's degree and management experience in the field of journalism preferred. To apply, please send a resume and three to five examples of writing and/or design work to Megan Moser at email@example.com. No phone calls, please.
