The breaking news editor for the West Coast region of Patch monitors any breaking news for California and Washington and informs and assists field editors in writing the stories. Monitoring includes Dataminr, Twitter, Facebook, police logs and any other sites that may have information about the breaking news. When there isn't breaking news, the editor is responsible for finding unique and interesting stories for features. The editor may also provide vacation coverage when needed. This position includes weekend hours, flexible to accommodate candidate's schedule.
