Military Times is looking to hire a reporter to fill a critical role covering the military services and overseas operations around the world. This reporter will assist in daily news coverage for the Military Times’ websites as well as crafting magazine-style enterprise and investigative stories for the bi-weekly news magazine that is distributed in print to military communities worldwide. The reporter may also play a key role in our expanding video production efforts.
This position requires both immediate reporting of breaking news, as well as consistent work on a handful of longer-term projects that will include both individual and team-reporting assignments. Prior military service is a plus, but is not required. A detailed understanding of the military culture is strongly preferred.
This reporter’s beat may include coverage of the Pentagon, the military services’ leadership and culture, personnel policies, military criminal justice and overseas operations along with their geopolitical issues that affect them.

Required Functional & Technical Qualifications:
Located outside of Washington, D.C., the Military Times media network (Army Times, Navy Times, Air Force Times and Marine Corps Times) is an independent authority on the U.S. armed forces. We have a proud legacy of producing award-winning investigative journalism. Our reporters cover conflict and overseas contingency operations, military weapons and technology, policymaking at the Pentagon and military personnel issues. We advocate on behalf of rank-and-file service members and their families by asking tough questions of their leaders and aggressively holding to account those who break the rules.
