The Dallas Morning News is looking for freelancers to help its unrivaled live coverage of high school football during the 2019 Texas high school football season.

The Dallas Morning News sports department seeks help to produce statistics and stories for high school football games from August to December. We are looking for candidates who already live in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

The job includes:

-- Traveling to a game with a laptop and wireless internet card (we provide these).

-- Inputting live play-by-play statistics.

-- Writing a short recap on the game.

-- The ability to take pictures and video on a smartphone if asked.

-- Mandatory paid training sessions. New hires must attend two sessions: July 30 or Aug. 1 AND Aug. 6 or 8. Sessions last 2 hours. (Dates are tentative.)

Candidates should have the following:

-- A passion and understanding of high school football rules and statistics.

-- Fast, accurate computer skills and the ability to take stats by hand if needed.

-- Drive to get it right, get it quickly.

-- Ability to write effectively on deadline.

-- Ability to commute in and around the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
