The Chronicle-Tribune, and Central Indiana Newspaper Group (CING), a five-day-a-week newspaper operation in the heart of central Indiana, is seeking a group Editor with experience managing a staff dedicated to reporting in small cities and rural communities.
CING represents five newspaper in the following locations: Marion, Huntington, Peru, Wabash and Frankfort, Indiana. Each location has a local editor and those editors, along with the newsroom staff in Marion, report to the group Editor. The group editor is ultimately responsible for all aspects of the newsroom operations.
Primary duties include, but are not limited to, hiring and training editors, providing leadership to the newsrooms across the group, ensuring quality newspapers are output daily, maintaining truthful and transparent dialog with readers and community leaders, copy editing, hiring and training reporters to meet our standards of performance, news reporting, coordinating and executing social media strategies, writing columns and editorials. This is a "hands-on" position and will actively represent the newspaper at public venues. Will work with a pagination hub to produce excellent publications while meeting deadlines.
Bachelor's degree in journalism, mass communications or other related fields with at least three years of journalism experience is required. Understanding of grammar and AP Style required. Hours may vary due to community events, but typically it is a Monday-Friday work week.
