Courthouse News Service, a California-based legal news service, is seeking a part-time substitute reporter to cover new court filings in Massachusetts and New England on an as-needed basis. A legal background is not required, but demonstrated interest and ability in writing or journalism is necessary. The job will entail visiting the Suffolk County Courthouse and US District Courthouse in downtown Boston to review and summarize new civil filings. 

This is an as-needed position that will require the substitute to fill in approximately 20-25 days per year, ideal for a freelancer or somone with an otherwise flexible schedule. Competitive pay is offered for the position, which will require approximately 6-8 hours per day when filling in. Please live in or near Boston and have access to public transportation or reliable personal transportation.
