Job Description
 

SUMMARY: The deputy news editor assists in updating and maintaining the Worldwide Tax Treaties research library. Ideal candidate is a conscientious and dependable self-starter with strong attention to detail who writes and communicates clearly and is able to meet daily deadlines. Must be flexible and willing to develop knowledge of WTT.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned to meet editorial objectives.

  1. Research and write brief news summaries for the daily file
  2. Summarize and process treaties, news releases, and other documents in Alfresco (content management system)
  3. Edit correspondents' treaty-related news stories and add links to cited treaties
  4. Publish and update OECD multilateral instrument (MLI) documents and related online tools in Alfresco
  5. Monitor and conduct comparisons of competitors’ websites (Internal only)
  6. Communicate with WTD editors and other departments as necessary
  7. Undertake special projects as requested
  8. Serve as backup for WTT editor as needed
  9. Adhere to company style guide and established publication deadlines

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

  1. Demonstrated writing, editing, and proofreading skills
  2. Highly detail-oriented and accurate
  3. Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish and maintain rapport
  4. Strong organizational and communication skills
  5. Works well in a team environment
  6. Familiarity with Tax Analysts style guide
  7. Knowledge of foreign languages helpful



Qualifications
 

  1. BA in English, writing, or journalism, or equivalent experience required
  2. 2+ years editorial or proofreading experience
  3. Thorough understanding of editorial and publication processes
  4. Familiarity with online publishing and web-content management
  5. Proficiency in MS Windows, Word, Adobe Acrobat, Alfresco and Internet
