American Inno is a network of digital media and events properties focused on covering and connecting local startups, technology and innovation. You can check us out at We’re currently in 12 markets, with additional coverage in other ecosystems scheduled for later this year. In every market we’re in, Inno is the go-to-source for the people and businesses that drive and define a local ecosystem, from first-time founders to serial entrepreneurs and from early stage startups to pillar tech corporations.

We are currently looking for a freelance writer in Cincinnati to contribute several stories a month. (This person must be in Cincinatti or surrounding area).

These stories will be:

  1. Single-interview pieces ranging from 350-650 words. The stories will mostly be profiles on local startups, tech companies, products or accelerators/incubators, but we will also be looking for timely news hits, funding reports and event recaps.
  2. An additional once-a-month longer-form feature assignment that typically require multiple sources, photos and insight; around 750-1.25K words

The Inno newsroom will be able to provide the freelancer with several ideas heading into and throughout every month, but we’ll always be open to fielding any and all on-brand pitches as it relates to a month’s deliverables. In short, we’re looking for several great stories a month on the people and companies shaping your city’s innovation economy – if you’d love to tell them, we’d love to have you.

If interested in writing for one of the above markets, here’s what we need from you.

Send a resume, clips and brief paragraph outlining your interest in the freelance position to Courtney Gabrielson at In this email, please include your freelance rate for the above story types (single interview, 350-650 words; multi-source, 705-1.25K words). Also please include any details on timing and availability.

American Inno is a subsidiary of the American City Business Journals, a network of 40+ business weeklies.
