We're the largest publisher for Law Enforcement in the United States. For nearly 30 years, we have partnered with public safety organizations large and small to bring quality publications and promotional materials to their members for actionable and measurable results. Our in-house services extend from design to content development, production and delivery. Print and online advertising sales drive revenue back into our clients’ associations. We also offer web site development, hosting and management, as well as cross-promotion of print and online vehicles for maximum return.

What will you do?

As a Publications Editor, you will work with our editorial team, production manager, design staff and clients to produce magazines, websites, social media content, print and digital marketing materials, mostly for our clientele in the law enforcement arena.

In this position, you will be responsible for a variety of editorial projects, ensuring the accuracy and quality of all assignments: This includes:

  • Editing content for grammar and conformity to client-specific style guides
  • Researching and writing articles for client publications (including attending occasional events)
  • Trafficking content for assigned publications
  • Coordinating content placement in the issue and, when necessary, conferring about layout and changes with designers and clients
  • Reviewing multiple proofs of each issue
  • Corresponding with clients regarding content and proofs
  • In addition, the position will require you to:
  • Manage social media accounts
  • Edit and deploy press releases
  • Prepare e-newsletters and email blasts
  • Assist with in-house marketing projects such as press releases, proposals, meetings, email blasts, website development and more
  • Additional duties and responsibilities may be added from time to time, as needed.

Who are you?

We are looking for a responsible and enthusiastic individual who will take ownership of their projects while still working collaboratively and following established procedures.

This is a dynamic position and you will be expected to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with frequently changing priorities, set deadlines, new challenges and creative opportunities.

You also have:

  • Minimum 5 years of editorial experience
  • Superior writing skills
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving ability
  • Familiarity with AP style
  • Social media experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and other programs; Wordpress a plus
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Marketing, project management and client contact experience is preferred
  • Knowledge of the law enforcement and/or criminal justice professions a plus
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with clients and staff
  • Ability to track/traffic multiple projects at once and meet deadlines
  • Ability to develop content for publication
  • Demonstrated ability to write compelling copy for a variety of media
  • Ability to follow specific guidelines to the letter
  • Ability to accurately research and fact-check
