Haymarket Media, Inc. is seeking a Staff Writer to join their McKnight’s Long-Term Care News team. This position is based in our Northbrook, IL office.

Job Overview:
McKnight’s Long-Term Care News, the leading B2B magazine and news service for the post-acute care sector, seeks an ideal candidate with exceptional news writing skills, experience with a variety of social media tools and platforms — and an ability to quickly grasp the nuances of industry-related issues. This person must be able to craft copy that is concise, clear, interesting and, above all, accurate. Other required attributes include curiosity, a devotion to meeting deadlines, excellent editing/language skills, a willingness to constantly improve and a good sense of humor.

Applicants are not necessarily expected to have extensive knowledge of long-term care issues, but must demonstrate a basic grasp of healthcare policy and show a willingness to learn

Responsibilities include:
• Daily news writing
• Writing topic-specific news stories for the monthly magazine
• Updating material on our website and other digital platforms
• Writing periodic blog posts
• Assisting with custom projects, including webinar moderation
• Working with editors on long-term care conference coverage

Skills and Qualifications:
• Ability to quickly write short, targeted articles
• Ability to set and meet deadlines and work independently
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, fun environment
• 2 to 4 years’ editorial experience preferred
• A team-player mindset and a gung-ho attitude
• Understanding of HTML and editing experience a must
• Proficiency on Google Suite
• Adobe Photoshop, InDesign experience helpful
• Ability to act as an ambassador for McKnight’s
• Bachelor’s degree in related field
