Responsibilities: This position will help prepare students in both skills and conceptual learning. The ideal candidate must be a self-starter, creative, and feels comfortable with innovate technology and storytelling.

The instructor will engage in a variety of learning support and instruction/institutional practices. Responsibilities include preparation, teaching, and conducting lecture and production courses as assigned. This includes but is not limited to developing syllabi, facilitating student learning in classroom and lab settings, recruiting, advising, tutoring, and evaluating students.

The typical teaching load is 30 credit hours per academic year. Classes may include Communications, Media studies, Filmmaking, Video Editing, Audio and Radio Production Courses. Teaching assignments may include some evenings. Faculty is expected to demonstrate and maintain competence throughout their employment at the college.

Seward County Community College serves as an important link to higher education in the remote corner of Southwest Kansas, serving a student population of which around 70% is first int their families to attend college. More than half identified as Hispanic. We draw students from a five-state service area. The success full candidate must be acculturated or be willing to become acculturated to the community and demographic flavors of the rural Midwest.

Qualifications: Master's Degree in Communications or Media Production preferred. Master's degree in rated field with 18 hours in Media Studies required. Evidence of thorough and accurate knowledge of discipline required. Previous teaching instruction in community college or secondary education preferred. Evidence of demonstrated skills in Speech Communication, Video Production, Audio Production, Adobe Creative Suite, and Creative Storytelling a plus.
