Description:

New York Nonprofit Media, a sister publication of City & State, is looking for a full-time reporter to cover the $9 billion nonprofit sector in New York City. The ideal candidate will live in the five boroughs, have reporting experience and display a genuine passion for keeping up with the latest in human services nonprofits that provide homeless shelters, foster care, emergency food, addiction treatment and other services on behalf of city and state government.

The position will involve producing a daily round-up of news from nonprofits, foundations and government agencies. The reporter would be required to put in about four hours daily to feed our daily Buzz, social media, birthdays, job changes, etc., while spending the rest of the day on other reporting assignments and helping out with nonprofit-oriented events and other projects.

Responsibilities

  • Keeping up with a predetermined list of nonprofits, foundations and government agencies to fill the Daily Buzz (ideally 5-6 items a day)
  • Reporting and writing email newsletter editor’s note
  • Social media posting
  • Enterprise projects including lists, reported pieces and multimedia
  • Aggregating stories and features for the morning email newsletter
