The Plattsburgh Press-Republican seeks an experienced editor to lead the newsroom of a 6-day, 9,500-circulation newspaper in northeast New York State.

The editor is responsible for news and editorial content, including niche publications, website (www.pressrepublican.com), mobile site and related social media.

The editor directs a staff of nine fulltime journalists and several free lancers. The editor is a key member of the senior management team. The position offers competitive salary and benefits.

Applicants need a solid background in collaborative management and strong credentials in coaching print and digital reporting, writing and editing skills. We expect the editor to be passionate about producing local content our readers want, need and value.

Plattsburgh is located on Lake Champlain. It is 60 miles south of Montreal, Canada, and the economic, educational and recreational hub of what is commonly known as the North Country. The city is home to SUNY Plattsburgh, a liberal arts college which is a part of the State University of New York system and Clinton Community College, which Is also part of the SUNY System.
