The Denver Post is seeking an audience-focused editor to oversee The Know, a website that's all about fun things to do in Colorado.

This editor needs to anticipate what readers will want to know as they plan their evenings, weekends and vacations - great outdoor patios, best place to get a beer before a ballgame, how to beat the traffic on a busy ski weekend.

While much of the work done for the site will appear in print, this is a digitally focused job, so a deep understanding of SEO tactics, social media and digital trends is a must.  Experience working on both free sites and digital subscriptions is a plus.

The job also requires extensive cooperation with other departments, both within and outside the newsroom.  You will work with editors on the city and sports desks to brainstorm ideas that go beyond traditional coverage - like what Rockies fans will need to know on opening day or how to keep the kids from going stir crazy during a big storm.  You will also collaborate with advertising to ensure they are aware of your plans for the site.

Duties include supervising staff who cover food, entertainment and the outdoors, as well as coordinating freelancers and overseeing that budget.  You need to help hone ideas to work for The Know audience and understand the importance of urgency in a highly competitive  environment.

If you're innovative, high-energy, goal-oriented and excited to explore Colorado, this could be the job for you.

- At least five years experience in daily journalism, including as a supervisor/editor

- Proven track record of digital success

- Bachelor's degree or equivalent

- Generate content ideas, edit copy and optimize for a digital audience

- Set goals and track metrics to ensure site growth

- Coodinate with digital team on free site vs digital subscription strategies

- Work with other departments on audience-focused content ideas and strategies

- Closely monitor The Know site to ensure it is functioning properly

- Supervise reporters and digital strategist, and oversee freelancers and budget

- Coordinate with print side to create vibrant print feature sections and premium sections
