The Owensboro Messenger-Inquirer, an 18,000-circulation daily newspaper in western Kentucky, is seeking a full-time city government reporter.

We’re looking for someone who is self-motivated with a positive attitude, has at least three years of daily newspaper reporting experience, feels comfortable asking tough questions and is able to handle a variety of assignments.

Owensboro is a growing and vibrant community along the Ohio River. We’re two hours from Louisville and Nashville, and about three hours from St. Louis.

If you have a passion for community journalism, this an excellent opportunity to work with and learn from a staff of six city desk reporters.

The Messenger-Inquirer is part of a growing newspaper chain of small and mid-size dailies, as well as weekly papers, primarily in the midwest and south.

The successful candidate will have top-notch writing abilities, accurate reporting skills and the ability to meet deadlines.

An excellent driving record is a must.
