National and state award-winning, 55-year-old community newspaper is seeking a detail-oriented person who takes pride in his or her thoughtful, objective and creative writing to cover urban, community and educational issues.

Westmore News offers the permanence of ink on paper and the immediacy of the web/mobile. Although the circulation area is not large, the paper is a staple in a community that serves as a microcosm of the country and has been embroiled in national issues from Voting Rights Act violations to FBI investigations to immigration and deportation policies.. Westmore News has covered them all. Between two villages—Port Chester with a substantial Hispanic immigrant population and Rye Brook, a more affluent, white-collar community—under the umbrella of a town that predates the founding of the United States, there are plenty of diverse topics for coverage. Furthermore, the two school districts in our coverage area deal with the same or sometimes radically different issues.

Westmore News is looking for someone who values storytelling, watchdog journalism and wants to make a difference in the community but is also willing to cover the small stuff.
