Description:

Gaming/Casino Industry News Copy Editor

Global gaming media site seeks top-notch, experienced news copy editor with strong grasp of land-based/online casino and gaming industry (that’s "gaming" as in the companies that bring in gamblers, not the ones who make video games).

We are looking for a work-at-home freelancer who is 100% self-motivated, passionate about news and research, with high journalistic standards, and strong AP style knowledge.

Must Haves:

  • Impeccable grammar and American usage phrasing and style skills: because we write in a US voice, just knowing English per se isn’t enough.
  • Casino/gaming industry lingo expertise, including sports betting and industry business terminology
  • Ability to tweak headers and leads when warranted to enhance reader interest
  • WWWWW news story understanding and ability to move copy around if warranted for better reader experience
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Knowledge of SEO basics
  • No attitude, ability to follow direction
  • Ability to communicate politely and clearly to news writers
  • Flexible availability: hours will likely range from 20-35 per week, TBD.
  • Up-to-date on current technology and in possession of high-functioning computer, WiFi, and smart phone

Desirable:

  • WordPress loading experience
  • Some weekend/holiday availability
  • US-based preferred

Compensation:

  • Competitive per-story editing rate. We will discuss specifics with those chosen for next-level review.
