Feast’s staff writer will be responsible for collaborating directly with the magazine’s editorial team to generate fresh and engaging print and digital content. The staff writer for this award-winning regional magazine will write and report food-and-drink stories for the monthly print magazine and website, including breaking news stories filed on a tight deadline. The staff writer will also copy edit print and digital content and contribute to special projects as well as social media management.


  • Write and report food-and-drink stories for the print magazine and website, including breaking news, adhering to daily, weekly and monthly deadlines
  • Copy edit monthly print copy and digital copy as required (technical skills and experience required)
  • Pitch front-of-book stories and features for the monthly print magazine as well as daily stories for the Feast website
  • Post content to Feast’s social media outlets as needed
  • Stay on top of what’s current in the local scene and keep abreast of national culinary trends; stay on top of current digital media trends and identify audience development opportunities


Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Media Communications or related field and two years of experience in publishing required.


  • Understanding of and experience in magazine publishing
  • Understanding of and experience in digital and social media
  • Ability to juggle multiple deadlines and projects
  • Command of editorial best practices and AP style
  • Working knowledge of InDesign, Microsoft Word, Photoshop (or other image-editing software) and the ability to work within a CMS
  • Passion for the local food scene and a hands-on understanding of cooking and baking
