The Council for Advancement and Support for Education (CASE) is actively recruiting for a Content Creator, reporting to the Senior Director, Content Strategy.

CASE is a global not-for-profit and membership association whose vision is to advance education to transform lives and society. Its mission is to inspire, challenge and equip communities of professionals to act effectively and with integrity to champion the success of their institutions. Advancing education in over 3,600 member institutions, CASE has 85,000 members in 82 countries.

Broad and growing communities of professional practice gather under the global CASE umbrella. Currently these include advancement services, alumni relations, communications, fundraising, government relations, institutional leadership and marketing. Individual members are at all stages of their career and may be working in universities, schools, colleges, cultural organizations or other not-for-profits. CASE membership also includes many corporate partners. CASE uses the intellectual capital and professional talents of an army of volunteers to advance its work.

Working together across time zones and borders, CASE staff in all offices seek to make the ambitious OneCASE aspiration a reality.



Working with other members of the Content Strategy team, the Content Creator identifies topics, issues, and story ideas of interest to CASE members, prospective members and related parties, and develops compelling content to be published, packaged and deployed as articles/stories/posts, etc. in support of CASE’s strategic efforts to serve and engage members, support new membership growth, and advance education around the world.



The core functions of this position include but are not limited to the following:

Program/Project Management

  • Develop a steady stream of compelling editorial content, on-brand and on-deadline, for a wide range of digital, print and social channels, as assigned by the Senior Director, Content Strategy and shepherded by the Manager, Editorial Content. This involves generating (researching and writing) original content as well as commissioning and editing content from others (practitioners, members, staff) and shaping and redeveloping existing content for multiple channels.
  • Following the protocols outlined in the OneCASE workflow system, develop content from story idea to final draft with direct supervision from Senior Director, Content Strategy and/or Manager, Editorial Content.
  • Cultivate relationships with in-house subject matter experts (content hubs), field practitioners, academicians and thought leaders for content knowledge, story ideas and sources.
  • Adapt content (long and short form) as appropriate to audience and channel: digital, social, print, and new/emerging, including:
    • Magazine feature articles
    • Web content
    • Blog posts and social
    • White papers and reports
    • E-newsletter articles
    • Other areas as assigned
  • Produce 6-8 feature-length articles per year, as assigned and on deadline.
  • Commission 1-2 feature articles per year, as assigned and on deadline, including identifying appropriate content generator; providing guidance, editing draft, guiding rewrite, and delivering edited copy.
  • Develop weekly short content (blog posts, member profiles, magazine departments).
  • Develop/edit white papers or reports annually based on key CASE issues, including support for strategic plan, governance structure, research reports, etc.
  • Coordinates with the Manager, Editorial Content and Content Strategy team to ensure that the global interests of CASE members are reflected in the magazine, website, social, and other media.
  • Contribute to the development of Currents magazine, including writing and editing features, columns, captions, headlines, call-outs and subheads, and copyediting and proofreading at various stages of magazine production.
  • Convert print pieces as appropriate to digital deployment.
  • Brainstorm, strategize with Content Strategy and members of the Brand Expression and Channel Deployment verticals to conceptualize how content can be packaged, integrated and distributed in other channels (including, but not limited to, available print, digital, and social platforms) and writes/edits material suitable for those channels.
  • Stay informed of news and trends related to global education by reading publications, attending conferences as designated by supervisor and communicating directly with CASE staff and members, advancement practitioners, and subject matter experts.
  • Identify writers and expert practitioners at all levels of the advancement profession and recruits them as authors and sources.
  • Keep up with editorial details and paperwork, including queries, contracts, and other correspondence with authors, sources, and freelancers.

Fiscal Management/Budget Responsibilities/Judicious Use of Resources

  • Exercise fiscal responsibility in the use of all CASE resources.

Liaison Responsibilities

  • Exhibit appropriate leadership toward and works cooperatively and supportively with all volunteers with whom this employee has contact, including CASE’s volunteer leadership.
  • Work collaboratively and creatively across all verticals within the Marketing Communications division, including the Brand Expression and Channel Deployment teams.

Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Supervisor.



Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Journalism or Communications.
  • Four-to-seven (4-7) years’ experience in diversified editorial development and communications role.
  • Previous experience in higher education is a plus.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Must have technical proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). Familiarity with communication tools like WordPress, Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Outstanding writing and editing skills; strong knowledge of grammar and syntax; substantive editing, copyediting, and proofreading skills, with exceptional attention to detail. Familiarity with Associated Press style guide a plus.
  • Strategic and creative thinker with proven problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to conceptualize and produce material for multiple platforms.
  • Good interpersonal skills and proven ability to work independently, within a team, and with high-level sources and contributors around the world.
  • Interest in and experience with global and cross-cultural issues and engagement. Knowledge of education and advancement is highly desirable
  • Time oriented; ability to meet deadlines consistently.
  • Strong organization and administrative skills.
  • A pro-active and can-do attitude, even when working under pressure and with all levels of staff.
  • Exceptional planning and project management skills.
