Position summary         

Fastmarkets is looking for a New York-based pricing administrator/sub-editor who will guarantee that the reporting of our prices is consistent, error-free and in compliance with regulatory standards; and ensure that all content across Fastmarkets’ range of products is accurate, engaging and crafted in accordance with organizational style. This role requires strict attention to detail, exceptional communication skills, a problem-solving mind-set and a collaborative spirit.

Responsibilities

  • Check representative prices for Fastmarkets across all publications in line with company procedures across all markets
  • Understand how key market movements are captured by pricing reporters and the rationale for those changes
  • Develop understanding of why and how Fastmarkets launches, amends and discontinues prices
  • Develop understanding of regulatory requirements that shape how prices are captured and reported by Fastmarkets
  • Ensure all customer-facing content is clear, error-free, well-written and engaging, minimizing corrections and removing libels
  • Meticulous and rigorous editing of copy for accuracy, consistency and compliance with regulatory oversight
  • Produce all content in line with price reporting agency (PRA) strategy; identify where PRA angle is missing or obscured; work with reporters to promote adherence to PRA standards
  • Work in small teams on projects aimed at improving consistency or operating more efficiently
  • Cultivate strong working relationships with members of other teams including pricing development and compliance, as well as writers and section editors, based on trust and ability
  • Be receptive to mentoring/suggestions from colleagues
  • Attend training courses as required
  • Report directly to US newsdesk leader, indirectly to global newsdesk manager

Key skills, qualifications and experience

  • Experience in B2B journalism, preferably in commodities
  • Degree-educated
  • Strong written and spoken English
  • Interest in economics, commodities and metals is beneficial
