Position Description:

The Sanford Herald, a five-day-a-week newspaper in the heart of central North Carolina, is seeking a reporter with a nose for news. Along with local government, education, and sports, you will also have the opportunity to report on a wide variety of people and activities, including church, organizations, community events, hard news and features, depending on what’s happening. The reporter needs to be serviceable with a camera and web savvy, and proficient in the use of social media. Developing a network of reliable local sources and working with them is important in this position.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in journalism, mass communications or other related field is preferred. The reporter must meet deadlines consistently while multitasking on multiple stories. Must be able to shoot digital photography. Web and social media experience is a plus. Understanding of grammar and AP Style required. Hours may vary due to community events, and some weekend work will be required.
