Oil and gas investor special projects  

 

Summary:

This position works at the direction of the editor-in-chief of Oil and Gas Investor and the group managing editor of print products. This position is primarily responsible for assisting in general editorial duties required for the production of special reports, supplements and monthly magazines in the Oil and Gas Investor group.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

  • Assists with all phases of the production of editorial products, and may have primary responsibility for the production of specific editorial products.

 

  • Ensures production of publication within specified budget and deadlines.

 

  • Prioritizes, tracks, handles, and maintains records of the elements and time schedules of each issue.

 

  • Initiates or replies to correspondence regarding material published or being considered for publication.

 

  • Copy edits or directs copy-editing activities such as conferring with writers, fact checking, line editing copy, reading page proofs, and/or dummy book to detect and correct errors.

 

  • Rewrites or directs the rewriting of copy, headlines, and captions to clarify meaning and to conform to publication's style and editorial policy.

 

  • Has primary responsibility for copy editing according to publication’s style as well as AP style, and for maintaining and updating the publication’s style guide.   

 

  • Responsible for magazine layout and liaises between advertising staff, editorial team, and art department.

 

  • Works with marketing department and publisher to determine how many/which house ads are to be used in a project. Keys marketing on special projects schedule to ensure needed house ads are ready and sent to designer.

 

  • Follows company and industry news that is relevant to the magazine’s content.

 

  • Develops, interviews, and writes exclusive content and manages certain monthly departments.

 

  • Traveling to events outside of home office as required.

 

  • Attends professional and social events relevant to the publication’s content and audience.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor Degree (B.A. or B.S.) in English, journalism, or related field and at least three years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

  • Ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously, meet deadlines, and handle work-related stress.

 

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include weekends and holidays.

 

  • Must be able to establish and maintain a professional atmosphere for employees, clients and customers.
