The Michigan Advance, a new hard-hitting progressive online news outlet, is adding to our team in Lansing. Duties include:

  • Writing daily stories and blog posts, including profiles, explainers and multimedia pieces

  • Identifying and writing enterprise, investigative stories and series

  • Taking photos and/or video

  • Editing stories, identifying visuals and serving as a backup for the Editor-in-chief

  • Establishing and expanding social media presence representing the outlet

Candidates should possess knowledge of Michigan’s political landscape and leaders, sound news judgment and the ability to work on deadline. Ideal candidates will have at least 5 years journalism experience, Wordpress fluency, editing experience, flexibility and an entrepreneurial spirit.
