Graphic Designer

The Adrian Dominican Sisters are seeking a Full Time Graphic Designer for our Motherhouse campus in Adrian, MI. 

In this role you will:Work independently but coordinate with a small, dynamic and creative Communications team to produce high quality print and digital communications. You will support the design needs of the Adrian Dominican Sister Congregation. Your designs will promote experiences and events as you work closely with various administrative departments that handle vocations promotion, public relations, fundraising and congregation sponsored events. Your creative ideas and technical ability will spearhead long- and short-term projects in a fast paced/high volume environment. Pay and Hours: Salary based on experience. Monday-Friday 8:30am-5pm. Reports to the Director of Communications.

What you will be responsible for:

  • Project work such as artistic concepts, camera ready art work, digital graphic files, paper and ink specification, photographic materials, digital and print layouts, page design, newsletters, flyers, apparel designs, and illustrations.
  • Maintaining file backups, archived artwork, etc.
  • Design/layout Congregation internal and external communications, including worship materials, magazine, annual reports, booklets, books, posters, brochures, formation materials, advertisements, social media graphics, logos and other print and digital materials.
  • Interacting with other Congregation and administrative offices and outside vendors as needed for communication projects.
  • Photographer for campus events.
  • Supervise and mentor graphic design intern.   


Education: Bachelor’s Degree in communications, graphic arts, graphic design, journalism, public relations or equivalent professional experience required.

Experience:  3-5 years working in graphic design using desktop publishing technology and skills below:

  • Advanced skills in Adobe Creative Suite Cloud, specializing in InDesign, InCopy, Illustrator and Photoshop; use MS Word and Excel and Mac computer.
  • Familiarity with flatbed and film scanning technology.
  • Photography skills, including using a DSLR camera; download, retouch, resize and file photos; work with submitted photos.
  • Knowledge of copyright laws, social media platforms, communications, typography and printing.
  • Experience working with outside vendors soliciting and evaluating bids for projects.
  • Experience taking projects from concept to completion, including preparation of computer files for printer, and working with printer.
  • Understanding of post Vatican II church and religious congregations desirable but not required.
