Undark magazine, a non- profit, editorially independent digital magazine underwritten by the Knight Science Journalism Program, seeks an Audience Engagement Editor to maintain, nurture and grow its audience, social media presence, and a roster of partner publications in consultation with its editor-in-chief. Responsibilities include monitoring, interpreting, and reporting on website and social media traffic analytics in order to improve promotions and expand readership; conceiving and developing pre-publication marketing campaigns for select Undark projects, principally through the identification and cultivation of relationships with online, print, television, and radio editors, producers, and bookers; designing and implementing external email communications, including a weekly newsletter; collecting, tracking, and maintaining a database/spreadsheet of all relevant journalism awards/competitions/contests; working with Knight Science Journalism’s (KSJ) director, associate director, and program administrator to promote the profile of the KSJ program through various marketing channels; working with KSJ's program administrator to help plan, promote, and orchestrate KSJ and Undark-branded live events; maintaining annual budget; and performing other duties as directed.
