The Role

ProcurementIQ is looking for an individual with experience in both editing and publication layout to work as an Editorial & Layout Assistant in our office in West Los Angeles. You will be responsible for editing market research reports, making sure they are clear and grammatically correct, as well as making sure they adhere to ProcurementIQ's writing standards and style guidelines. You will also use InDesign and established templates to lay out reports according to design specifications consistent with the ProcurementIQ brand. Some assignments must be completed within strict deadlines, while others are looser and require self-accountability. The position reports to the Editorial Manager.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Copyedit 15- to 30-page reports written by economic analysts for spelling, punctuation and grammar issues, sometimes under tight deadlines.
  • Ensure that reports adhere to company writing and style guidelines.
  • Identify, address and resolve writing, logic and accuracy issues in reports.
  • Make corrections to reports without altering the meaning or logic of the content.
  • Follow design guidelines to lay out and format market research reports in InDesign.
  • Manipulate and fit text, display type, charts and graphics into reports using existing InDesign and Illustrator templates.
  • Publish reports as PDFs using ProcurementIQ's proprietary applications.
  • Work and collaborate with editorial team and senior editors.
  • Interact with economic analysts, research managers and quality manager on a regular basis.
  • Other projects and duties as assigned.

As the successful candidate, you will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, English or Journalism
  • Previous experience as a proofreader or copy editor; experience working at a business publication is preferred
  • An understanding of business writing and terminology; general knowledge of business and economic concepts is preferred
  • The ability to learn new applications and new content subjects quickly
  • Excellent written communication skills and mastery of English language and grammar
  • Strong organizational and time management skills; adaptability to both loose and tight deadlines is a must
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Comfortable with high-volume, somewhat repetitive work
  • Experience using InDesign, Illustrator or other desktop publishing software
  • Experience working in an Apple OS environment
