Our State magazine, an 86-year-old publication devoted to celebrating the joys of living in North Carolina, is hiring a features editor to join our award-winning team.

The ideal candidate is a story-idea innovator with several years of magazine editing experience who wants to be part of something big — and has a love for magazines and an ear for great narrative journalism. You’ll write, edit, help create compelling headlines and cover lines, and collaborate closely with the features editor, art director, and a team of highly creative and energetic editors and freelance writers to give voice to the stories that our readers love each month.

You don’t have to have sweet tea running through your veins, but a strong affection for North Carolina and an ability to embrace our state’s regional culture is a critical. A curious demeanor and positive attitude are important. Knowledge of InDesign is preferred, attention to detail is a necessity, and strong copy editing skills are a must.

About us: Our State magazine is front porches, back roads, and barbecue. We’re saltwater breezes and cool mountain air. We have something special here, and our readers love us — they are passionate and loyal (with an 81% renewal rate), and they invite us into their homes every month. Located in Greensboro, we are one of the fastest-growing and most successful magazines in the South. We are a 100% employee-owned company and our culture here is fun, relaxed and casual.  We offer a no-walls environment that encourages creative freedom and collaboration.
