Description:

Gaming/Casino Industry US-Based News Writer

Global gaming media site seeks top-notch freelance news writer with strong grasp of land-based/online casino and gaming industry ( that's "gaming" as in the companies that bring in gamblers, not the ones who make video games).

We are looking for a work-at-home freelancer who is 100% self-motivated, passionate about news and research, with high journalistic standards, and strong AP style knowledge.

Must Haves:

You get equally fired up over writing and researching news as you do about earning a solid paycheck for it, and you’re willing to commit to a consistent, ongoing schedule and frequent news team communications.

You know the gaming industry inside and out: this incredibly complex and multi-layered lasagna of an industry requires that you understand politics, American history, Las Vegas behind-the-scenes, tribal and regional gaming across the US, industry-impactful legislation, criminal codes, and how to write about all of it with élan.

Knowledge of sportsbetting, sports in general, and entertainment as it applies to live casino acts is also paramount. Knowledge of UK and EU gaming issues is a plus. No, we don't expect you to have every fact at your fingertips, but we do expect you to know what you don't know and know how to research it.

Word Press knowledge is helpful: if you don't have it, be willing to learn it.

No divo/divas, please. Be able to accept constructive criticism and coaching, and be willing to read and incorporate editor notes undefensively.

We are seeking a US-based news writer with firsthand understanding of American casino culture, and if you live in any established or developing legal gaming region, so much the better. If you are on the West Coast, please be prepared to start writing at 8 am PT daily at the latest.

You will be working from home, and your tools of the trade - i.e., your computer or laptop and WiFi - must be able to handle copious amounts of copy output without significant technical meltdowns.

Availability to write on some weekends and holidays would be a plus as well.

Money, Money, Money:

For a writer with the motivation and high standards to create ongoing and prolific gaming news, there is absolutely the potential to make the equivalent of a full-time salary. We will base your rates on 1) experience 2) output 3) reliability and 4) speed.

Our pay rates are highly competitive and for those with the talent and drive, compensation is excellent and paid out monthly. There will be a ramp-up training period (for which you will be compensated, of course) and then how quickly you move forward from there is largely up to your own ambition, drive, and hard work.

Please supply links to your relevant past work, resume, and cover letter telling us why you are perfect for this opportunity to: editor@legendcorp.com.
